FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+ What is the Travel Mat made of?
Natural rubber with a luxurious, microfibre printed surface.
+ What types of yoga is this mat optimised for?
Sweaty practices like Bikram or higher intensity yoga and workouts.
+ Is the Travel Mat non-slip?
Yes and no.
Yes - during sweatier practices when the mat becomes moist, the Travel Mat is non-slip. The mat offers more traction the wetter it becomes.
No - the mat is not optimised to be non-slip during 'drier' practices. The luxurious, microfibre printed top of the mat can be quite slippery when it is dry - especially when the mat is new as it'll feel particularly 'velvety' straight out the box.
+ Does the Travel Mat get slippery when wet?
No. The sweatier the mat becomes, the more traction and grip the microfibre surface offers.
+ Can I use this mat for dry yoga?
The mat is optimised for sweatier practices. If you're looking to use this mat for 'drier' activities too, we advise spraying it with water at the start of your practice. Keep in mind that this might not be particularly pleasant during the colder months. You will also need to keep the mat fairly well sprayed throughout to ensure maximum traction.
+ Is this mat good for sweaty hands and feet?
Yes. This mat is likely to be a better fit for you than a foam mat which immediately starts to feel a bit slippery when it becomes moist.
+ Can this mat withstand more rigorous practices?
This depends on your level of experience and how much cushioning you need. The Travel Mat is 1.5mm thick and therefore doesn't offer immense cushioning.
+ How do I clean the Travel Mat?
We recommend a thorough wash once a week. To do this, first rinse your mat with water. Next spray it with an anti-bacterial yoga mat spray. You can easily make your own with a few drops of eucalyptus and mint essential oil diluted in water. Gently rub the spray into the mat with your hand and then rinse again. Hang the mat up to dry - it will take a few hours to dry, depending on what season you're in. Between practices, we recommend a light spray down of an anti-bacterial yoga mat spray and a couple of hours to dry properly. Do not aggressively scrub your mat or use harsh, chemical sprays. We recommend testing out a corner of your mat if you're using a new spray. To maximise longevity, we don't recommend throwing your mat into the washing machine or tumble dryer.
